Another of our “green” experiments that demonstrates how we can use the energy from the sun to heat water in an environmentally friendly way. Using a concave mirror that directs the sun's heat into a test tube with water, we can accurately measure the heat with the included thermometer. Students will observe the effects of focusing the sunrays onto a vial with water. The experiment can also be conducted with a light bulb to simulate the sunrays.
