This is because Sakura Color Products invented and patented gel ink; a special ink delivery system and created the gel pen category within the industry. Archival quality ink which is chemically stable; waterproof and fade resistant. No smears; feathers or bleed-through on most papers and writes on both light and dark papers as well as glossy and matte surfaces. Not recommended for use on fabric.
